Bitcoin Prediction Markets — Trading BTC Odds on Polymarket

How Bitcoin price prediction markets work on Polymarket — the price-target and date markets, how they're priced against spot, and how to see which wallets are positioned.

Bitcoin is the anchor of Polymarket's crypto category. Instead of buying the coin, you trade the probabilityof a price outcome — “Will BTC hit $150k this year?”, “Will it close above $100k in December?” — as yes/no shares between 0¢ and 100¢. This guide covers how those markets are structured, how they relate to spot, and how to read the wallets on each side. Browse them live on the Bitcoin odds page.

The two shapes of a BTC market

  • Price target by date— “Will Bitcoin reach $X by [date]?” A “Yes” at 35¢is the market's ~35% implied probability it happens in the window.
  • Range / close markets — where BTC closes a month or year, often as a multi-outcome market across price buckets that sum to ~100¢.

Win and each share settles at $1.00; lose and it's $0. The further out of the money the target, the cheaper the share and the bigger the payout if it hits — exactly like a longshot in any market.

How BTC odds relate to spot

A Bitcoin prediction market isn't the spot price — it's the market's probability distribution over where spot goes. As BTC rallies toward a target, the “Yes” share climbs; as time runs out without the move, it decays even if price holds, because the window is closing. That time element is what makes these markets trade more like options than a simple long. Because it's a live market, you can sell your shares back at any time before resolution rather than waiting for settlement.

Why the crowd here is different

Crypto markets attract a mix of genuine macro traders, degens and arbitrage bots moving size between venues. A big fill isn't automatically conviction — it might be a hedge against a spot or perps position. That's why reading whois trading, and whether they're a bot, matters so much here.
